Commencement

Commencement at Thomas College is a joyous celebration of the achievements of our graduating students. The festivities spans two days starts with Honors Convocation and Senior Class Dinner and finishes triumphantly in our time-honored commencement ceremony.

Honors Convocation

Honors Convocation recognizes undergraduate students with a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher at the time of Commencement, members of the Alpha Chi Honor Society, Veteran students who wish to be recognized, Marshals, Class Speakers, and the Thomas Scholar.

  • Time: 4:00pm
  • Location: Harold Alfond Athletic Center
  • Eligible students and their families will be invited to participate in Honors convocation via email in late April.

Class of 2024 Dinner

  • Time: 5:30pm
  • Location: Spann Student Commons
  • TicketPrices:
    • Adults: $16
    • Children (ages 5-12): $8
    • Children (age 5 or under) and graduating Thomas College students: FREE

 Please Note: Seating for dinner is limited and pre-registration is required.

Commencement

SEATING

Seating is first come, first served with no limit on the number of guests a student may bring.

PARKING

There will be plenty of parking space when you arrive at Thomas College for Commencement. Our Department of Safety & Security will direct you to the open lots when you arrive at either of the entrances to campus. All of the parking areas lead to the Alfond Athletic Center with uncovered paved paths. If you have any special needs, please contact Jesika Vick at 207-859-1102 or [email protected].

Staff will be available to direct guests to the appropriate parking areas once you arrive to campus. In order to help with the flow of traffic we ask that you follow these guidelines:

  • Attendees approaching by West River Road northbound, may enter campus at the Vining Drive Entrance on the right.
  • Attendees approaching by West River Road southbound, may enter campus at the Main Entrance, Sheridan Drive on the left.
  • Attendees with VIP or reserved parking should enter campus at the Main Entrance, Sheridan Drive, and will be directed to the reserved parking areas.

LODGING

Waterville offers a range of lodging options, including hotels, inns, and Airbnb. You can find additional lodging in Augusta, which is about 25 minutes south of campus. Local options include:
